October 25, 2017 – Pax World Management LLC, investment adviser to Pax World Funds and a leader in the field of sustainable investing, today announced that the Pax Global Women’s Leadership Index1 (the Index), the first index of top companies in the world for advancing women’s leadership, outperformed its comparable broad market benchmark, the MSCI World Index,2 for the quarter ending September 30, 2017. For Q3 2017, the Index returned 5.18%, compared with the MSCI World Index return of 4.84%.3
The Index is designed to measure and capture the contribution that gender diversity makes to business success over time. Since its inception on February 28, 2014, the Pax Global Women’s Leadership Index has returned 8.19%, compared with the MSCI World Index return of 7.20%.3
The Index consists of equity securities of companies around the world that demonstrate a commitment to advancing women through gender diversity on their board, in executive management and through other policies and programs, as rated by Pax World Gender Analytics and that meet key environmental, social and governance (ESG) standards, as rated by MSCI ESG Research. Among Index companies, women hold 31 percent of board seats and 25 percent of senior management positions, as compared to 16 percent4 and 16 percent5 respectively, for companies globally.
