There is a growing desire among global investors to hold specialized commodities, including water. This article analyzes the trend, and explains that as global populations grow, water has become more scarce and in turn, a much more vital commodity. According to Michael Herbst, a Morningstar fund analyst, “Most investors probably don’t need a water fund, and could perhaps get water exposure through companies already in their own portfolio.
